Come one, come all! Join your favorite heroes and celebrate literacy by attending Hammond Elementary School's 5th annual Literacy night. Join us for free food, friends, and heroes as we celebrate how great it is to read.
On site there will be more than 150 Heroes, ready to read, including firefighters, police officers, pilots, National Guard members, and more! The event will take place from 6-7:30, with the first round of helicopter landings occurring at 5:00 PM and a live broadcast of the event on 1490 AM. So please bring your family and friends to Hammond for a wonderful evening on behalf of students.

Hammond students present their work as a Green School in this student made video highlighting their hard work and dedication to the environment. Students in the GenYes club worked with the Green Team to produce this amazing video. Special thanks to Mrs. Hayden and Mrs. Rodli for their efforts in helping these students.

From November 30th to December 11th we will be collecting non-perishable food items. The Beaver Fans will be pitted against Duck Fans to see who can bring in the most food. Students -please bring food to your teacher's rooms.
If the Beavers bring in the most food Mr. Cole will have to dress in Beaver attire. If the Ducks win Mrs. Evans will have to be a Duck Fan for the day.

Conferences for grades 1-5 will be held next Monday and Tuesday, November 23rd and 24th. You should have received an assigned conference time through your child's teacher and there will be no school for students next week, so parents and teachers can meet.
We look forward to seeing you next week for conferences! If you have any questions regarding your conference times, please contact your child's teacher.

Where: NE and NW corners of Kale and Bayne. Please park 1 block south, in the Hammond Elementary School parking lot.
Why: To give back to the community that supports us by painting the fences on Kale Street
Who: Hammond students, staff, parents, and YOU!
Parents, students, community members, businesses.....we need you!
The students at Hammond Elementary are dedicated to helping out in the community and they are thrilled at the opportunity to give back, by helping clean up the graffiti in our neighborhood.
On Saturday, May 30th the entire community will be
working together to paint the exterior fences along Kale Street, as well as
clean up the general area. We are working with the City of Salem Police
Department, Marion County Sheriff, and the City of
We want anyone and everyone in the community to be a part of this project,
to send a positive message about our neighborhood.
Thanks to our local business partners, including Kale Farms, Hayesville McDonalds, Roth's, and the Keizer Station Starbucks, we have enough paint to complete the project. We are still looking for enough painting supplies, including: brushes, rollers, roller tins, plastic sheeting, clean buckets, and rags. If you can help us in any way, please let us know.

Hammond Auction coming up. February 20th, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Donation items are still needed. Please donate goods or services if you are able to. Come and enjoy a night of live music and items to bid on and buy. Proceeds go to 4th Grade Outdoor School.

Make A Difference Day, Saturday, October 25th.
Neighborhood Litter Pick-up 9 a.m - noon
Recycle and trash drop-off 9 a.m. - 3 p.m
From 9am-3pm, large (commercial)trash and recycle dumpsters will be available for neighborhood residents to bring large items they haven't gotten around to taking to the transfer site. This is free of charge, courtesy of Pacific Sanitation. We will even be able to accept appliances and electronics.
Volunteers needed for litter pick-up and to monitor the trash/recycle area (no lifting required).
