We only have a 3 days left of our Live Like Lance fundraiser. The students at Hammond have really come together to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. On Friday, October 1st, we will wear yellow to show our support. This fundraiser has reminded us that cancer and other diseases affects so many people. It is so great that Hammond found a way to help. We are about $100 away from our goal of $500.
Here is an e-mail I received from a parent:
Dear Mrs. Lawyer:
My daughter has been collecting pennies from her parents, grandparents and aunts/uncles. Tomorrow I will try and drop off her pennies (they are heavy). There is approximately $22.84 in pennies. She received the bulk of her pennies ($14.80) from her paternal grandparents, both of whom have undergone and survived one type of cancer and currently they are both battling cancer once again, different and separate from the original and none of the four cancers are the same (prostate, eye, breast and liver). By the end of the week we should have pennies from my mother as well.
